So my bf is off frolicking on the beach in Central America while I am stuck here in the arctic tundra that is NYC. Besides being supremely jealous and more than a little bit lonely, I'm also camera-less for a week since I gave him my camera to take lots of pictures so that I can live vicariously through him and his tan. I've been using the free time however to not clean my room(heh), finally start watching The Tudors, and dive deep into my blog obsessions. The sumptuousness of the costumes of The Tudors is enough to keep me company for days.

alone again...
I'm particularly inspired by the men's fashion. It's Balmain without the rock n' roll. Just sex, rich fabrics and sharp tailoring. Expect some DIY's with some costume shop cast offs and my old velvet blazers soon!

maurice sendak we love you
Pictures from the still in production Where the Wild Things Are. Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers we believe in you!!! Everything about these still looks spot on, down to the lighting and the perfect furriness of the creatures
Oh and if you've never read anything by Dave Eggers, run, don't walk to your nearest bookstore and pick up What is the What and A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius.
You're welcome.

such a stud
Just got these sweet studded cuffs from forever 21 in the mail today. The bangles and rings are an assortment of h&m and f21. Certainly not la lanphear but it's enough shine to make me happy.

trial period
Trying out some new things. Set up my Twitter account as promised and I'm trying out Ecto, a desktop blogging program for my Mac. My sheer uselessness as a blogger has been primarily due to my overwhelming laziness, so maybe all this new gadetry and streamling will take away all or some of my excuses.
I've been up to quite a bit of browsing online and while it's no secret that the big department stores like Barneys and Bergdorf are having fire sales on some sweet designer clothing, I've recently bought a ton of non designer stuff (on sale) that has really rounded out my wardrobe. For example this shirt is of surprisingly good quality AND it's from Kmart! (trust me you're no more shocked than I was) and I got it for about 12 dollars.new year, new me
So I'm back with some ideas, pics, outfits and such. I'm also getting a bigger memory card for my camera to go along with my bright and shiny new imageshack account so expect regular posts soon. I also will be positing a link to my Twitter account since I've found that tends to be great for stream of consciousness posting.
In the meantime check out some images from Balenciaga's prefall collection. It's so primal and beautiful that I was left a little breathless when I first saw it. I definitely have some outfits inspired by it to post, especially thanks to the lovely Vera over at Deep In Vogue, and the fantastic mohair coat she made for me. Jordan Dunn's photo in particular keeps haunting me, I love making black and brown work together, and the details on the dress are amazing

Also I'll most likely be taking classes at FIT this semester in the hopes of finally being able to pursue a passion of mine. Lots more on this later.
